Lower Gwynedd, was settled by the Quakers in the late 1600’s, and is a township in Montgomery with a population of approximately 11,400.  The Parks & Recreation department of Lower Gwynedd is currently in charge of four parks and over eight trails, including the 77 acre Penllyn Woods which has a community building, public areas for various types of sporting events, walking trails, a boardwalk and pond, and two picnic pavilions.  Lower Gwynedd also hosts a variety of community events including the highly anticipated Countrie Picnic that is held once a year.
